Focus

From November 2005 to March 2007, Emmanuel entered a church assessment process to rediscover who we are now as a church and our surrounding community. As a result from information gathered church wide, the elders, along with other church leaders, developed a simple focus statement that encompasses God’s direction for Emmanuel. The focus statement is:

Emmanuel is… reflecting Jesus, strengthening families, and serving our community.

This simple focus statement is the tool in which we conduct ministry at Emmanuel. Before new ministries are launched in the church, we filter the cause through this statement to see if it aligns with our church’s focus. Below is a sample of some things we do in relation to our focus statement:

Emmanuel Reflects Jesus:

  • By sharing the good news of Jesus to those not knowing Him.
  • By providing spirit-filled worship experiences.
  • By demonstrating the power of prayer.
  • By providing small groups for all seasons of life.
  • By organizing a strategic mentoring model for the purpose of disciple making.

Emmanuel Strengthens Familes:

  • By providing children, teenager, and adult opportunities for spiritual growth.
  • By supplying topical family-based training courses.
  • By utilizing Crown Financial Ministries as a tool to help families biblically manage their resources.
  • By partnering with Arizona Baptist Children’s Services.

Emmanuel Serves Our Community:

  • By hosting a weekly Sunday morning community breakfast.
  • By opening up our campus for various events.
  • By distributing food boxes throughout the week when requested.
  • By reaching people for Christ through benevolence needs.
  • By partnering with local businesses to better our community.

We envision focusing on reflecting Jesus in 2007, strengthening families in 2008, and serving our community in 2009. Although all three focus initiatives should be applied at all times in individuals’ lives, the church will corporately emphasize one initiative per year. Prayerfully, this will bring unity and simplicity as we aim to glorify our Lord Jesus. If you have further question regarding our church’s vision, please contact a church elder.
